Hobby Lobby Inspired Chair Makeover

I’m so excited to share my latest project! I recently purchased a farm table from Farm Fresh Collections. I became obsessed with finding the perfect chairs. I went to Hobby Lobby to get some Valentine’s supplies where I wondered off to the painted furniture section. I immediately saw these chairs and it was love at first sight!

Except when I saw the price tag of $100. Each chair!!!! I took a picture and carried on. I remembered seeing some chairs off craigslist. I called the lady and the chairs were still available. With determination and focus I began my project.

First I cleaned the chairs. I took the seats off by unscrewing the bottom of chairs.

Next, I decided to paint a pair with milk paint Linen color. I’m beginning to experiment with milk paint and it’s growing on me. You have to mix the powder with water so it’s an extra step. I painted 3 coats of paint the two chairs.image

Then, I painted two other chairs a light aqua color. I mixed a little old white paint with Florence ASCP. I painted two coats of this.

I sealed all chairs with a wax and distressed to the look that I wanted. I took some dark wax & mineral spirits to Antique the old white chairs.

After all the chairs were dried I took burlap and stapled unto the seats.

Finally, I sprayed Scotch Guard  on all burlap seats for extra protection. (Two layers)

Overall this project took me about a week. It was a lot of work but I’m so happy with the finished chairs! Best of all my family loves our new eating area! I hope this inspires you to try new things! Thanks for reading my blog!
